I absolutely adore these pictures. Maya has become so attached to my Dad, and loves whenever we spend time with him and my stepmom, as well as my two little brothers. This day my family and I all volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club for Disney’s Give A Day, Get a Day Program. To sum it up, all this year if you sign up and volunteer at a local charity or volunteer organization, you can get a free day at Disneyland or DisneyWorld. After painting the gym all day, we then went to the nearby park, where Maya had so much fun on the swing and playing with the boys.

While browsing the Valentine’s Day aisle with Maya the other day, we found this adorable little owl, who she named Cuckoo. It went perfectly with her new theme in her room, so naturally we bought two =). This week has been pretty busy for me, so this week I just snapped a few photos of Maya taking a nap with her new bedding and new baby Cuckoo. I played around with a few actions from a good friend of mine, Sarah at My Four Hens Photography. She has the most amazing actions, and they are so easy to mix and match. Keep an eye out on her site, shes planning a HUGE new sale soon!! Hope to have next weeks storyboard up soon!

Since we are re-decorating Maya’s room in a birdhouse, owl, tree type theme (pictures to come soon!) I was SO excited to find these adorable bird houses at Michaels for only a dollar each!! We grabbed one a few of our favorites, and spent Saturday painting them and decorating with some of my scrapping paper. Maya is so artsy and just eats this type of stuff up! She was so focused and concentrating so hard, it was the cutest thing ever. =)

Week Three- Our New Cat!

January 18, 2010

Hi everyone!!  I am having SO much fun with this project, and I hope you all are having just as much fun as I am! As some of you may know, we lost our precious cat Raka a few days before Christmas. He had eaten a string and we didn’t know what ws wrong with him until it was too late. He made it through surgery however only lasted a few hours later. It has had a huge impact on Maya, since he was her best friend, we had him since she was 3 months old. She still tells me every day how much she misses him, but how he is happy in heaven, “up in the sky”. After some time went by, I decided that it was time to look into getting another cat. I looked all over craigslist, went to the shelter, and seached a few websites. I had initially wanted a kittne, however looking on Petfinder, I saw the most adorable big white fluffy cat! She is SO gorgeous, I couldnt believe how someone could put her up for adoption! I ended up contacting the foster mom and going to get her a few days later. Turns out she was found on the side of the road, pregnant, and walking with two kittens from a previous litter. The foster mom had found homes for all of her kittens, and still needed to find one for her. Needless to say we had to bring her home, where she fits in perfectly! She is just a huge ball of love, and the cleanest, sweetest cat ever!

For the few months before Christmas, I asked Maya what she wanted me (or Santa) to get her. Every time she recited her list quickly, “A Donald Duck, a Minnie Mouse, a Goofy, a Pluto and a balloon.” (Can you guess what her favorite show is? haha) So we knew that without a doubt we would have to get her the characters from the Disney store. Donald is by far her favorite, and every time we went into the store to buy toys for her friends or cousins, she would grab as many Donalds as she could before we got in line. When the presents were slowly starting to be put under the tree, every time we asked her what they were, instead of replying ’presents’, she would say, ”thats my Donald Duck!”. He is now one of her favorite toys, and he sleeps in bed with her every night!

Week One- A New Beginning

January 5, 2010

Hey! Finally edited my pictures for week one, and ended up with this colorful little storyboard! Maya and I go to our property management company a few cities away every month to pay rent, and I just happened to have my camera in the car when we were on our way back. She was jumping around and being silly, and just had to snap a few photos before getting back in the car. Shes getting so big, and turning into such a little girl! She talks my ear off about anything and everything.and can’t wait to spill all the gossip about daycare as soon as she gets in the car, things like who pulled whos hair, and who got put in timeout, haha. If this how she is at two, I can’t begin to imagine what she will be like as a teenager!

A New Year!

January 4, 2010

Happy New Year everyone! I can’t believe that its already 2010!!! I am so excited to get this project started! Since I realize there is no way I would be able to do a project 365 this year, (last year was pretty tough for me, and I only made it a few months), I know a project 52 would be more my style, and something that I will be able to complete. My newest obsession is storyboards, and I have been doing little mini sessions with Maya just to work on them! I think this will be a fun way to record the most eventful day of each week, and my goal is to have them all printed into a book at the end of the year! I wish everyone a great year, and to everyone that is doing a project this year, I am SO excited to see all of your work!! =)

Today I tried to process this picture a little bit different, im still not sure about it, so let me know what you think! Maya’s new thing is she wants to call her dad all the time, and walk around with the phone blabbering away! Here she is trying to call him back after she hung up on him.
